The opening of a new library building is a rare event in these days of Westminster inflicted austerity. However in Bargoed they’ve renovated and converted the massive Hanbury Baptist Chapel to house the library and Caerphilly municipal archives. What a magnificent achievement!

This outstanding building will play host to the first of the two Lleisiau o Lawr y Ffatri/ Voices from the Factory Floor exhibitions touring South East Wales.

The second exhibition has reached Cardiff Central Library and is on show in the main reading room on the second floor.

IMG_1736Lleisiau o Lawr y Ffatri/ Voices from the Factory Floor will exhibit in both places until the end of the month. Then they will travel to Bangor for the Women’s Archive Annual conference.

See you there!

Update on north Wales exhibition / Y diweddara am arddangosfa’r gogledd

The two north Wales exhibitions have moved this week to their penultimate locations, Flint Library and the Galeri Caernarfon, where they will remain throughout September. I was pleased, when collecting the north east board from the Glasdir Centre in Llanrwst, to see many people had left some lovely comments in the visitor’s book. Here are some of them:

“A most interesting little memory of the past. Well done.”  M. Chapman, Deganwy.

“Lovely to see and read these snaps from the past.”  Teresa S.

“Nice to see and read history. Enjoyed this.” P. Davey.

Mae’r ddwy arddangosfa’r gogledd wedi symud ymlaen i’w lleoliadau olaf ond un, Llyfrgell Fflint a’r Galeri Caernarfon. Pan on i’n casglu bwrdd y gogledd dwyrain o Ganolfan Glasdir yn Llanrwst, oedd yn braf gweld bod nifer o bobl wedi rhoi’i barn yn y llyfr ymwelwyr. Dyma rhai ohonynt:

“Yn werth i’w weld. Mae’n bechod bod rhai o’r llefydd rhain wedi cau rwan.” H. Ffoulks, Llanrwst.

“Diddorol iawn.”  E. Jones, Talybont.
